About the Artist
Tony Geballe is a New York–based guitarist, composer, sound designer, and educator whose work bridges experimental music, theater, improvisation, and global musical traditions. A longtime instructor with Guitar Craft (founded by Robert Fripp) and a collaborator with artists including Trey Gunn, Toyah Willcox, Braindance, and the avant-garde ensemble Zero Times Everything, Geballe has performed and taught internationally while developing a highly personal approach to improvisational performance. His music has appeared on many recordings and in theatrical productions across the U.S. and Europe through his longstanding collaborations with director Karin Coonrod and La Compagnia de’ Colombari, and his solo 12-string guitar album Native of the Rain was released on Fripp’s Discipline Global Mobile label. Drawing on studies in Indian classical and Turkish music, progressive rock, ambient composition, and improvisation, Geballe creates immersive performances that blend electric and acoustic guitars, looping, texture, rhythm, and spontaneous composition into richly cinematic soundscapes.
